The History of Stang Shifter Gaskets
In November of 2003, after having modded my 2003 Dark Shadow Gray Cobra, I began to be a bit annoyed with the gear noise that was being transmitted into the cabin through my billet TriAx shifter. I noticed that I wasn't the only Terminator owner annoyed with this gear noise. About a month later I read an article where Dr. Jamie Meyer introduced the idea of using a gasket to seal the shifter to the transmission. I decided to get some of the same high-temp silicone gasket material and make my own. Using my TriAx shifter base, I designed my own gasket, installed it, and was amazed at how much more quiet the shifter was. I studied the shifter and discovered that it really wasn't the shifter itself that was noisy. It was simply acting as a "noise conductor", and carried the gear noise of the transmission right into the cabin. By insulating the shifter base from the transmission mounting plate, much of the gear noise was muffled. Soon friends were asking for gaskets and I started making sets for all late model Mustang shifters. Then I expanded my product line to cover the 1982-2002 Camaro/Firebird with the T-56 and T-5 transmissions. Just recently I added a shifter gasket set for the 2004-2006 GTO. All of my shifter gasket sets are made by hand using precision cutting templates manufactured from CNC tool and die machines. I use a special high temperature silicone material which is ideally suited to this application. And I use one supplier to insure consistent material quality. Since January of 2004 I have sold over 6,000 gasket sets. I have been blessed to have met many wonderful people through the sale of these sets. Some I have been fortunate to meet personally. Others I stay in contact with through Mustang Internet forums. If you are a first-time visitor to my website, you will discover that I do more than just sell product. I am committed to helping my fellow Terminator owners with answers to their questions through my Terminator FAQ page. I also provide basic installation instructions for such things such as supercharger removal/installation, radiator installation, etc. Lastly, I am the host for Gary Loat's Terminator ID Tags. Gary designed these great Tags for the Terminator engine bay (radiator shroud) and for the shifter console. If you own a 2003-2004 Cobra and don't have one of these Tags, I highly recommend that you check them out. Just click on the link to the left. If I can answer any questions about my products, please contact me.

why is my
shifter noisy?
Many people ask what causes their shifter to be noisy.
Actually it isn't the shifter that is noisy. What you hear is transmission gear noise being transmitted through the shifter (especially billet shifters) into the cabin.
The thin, irregular bead of silicon sealer normally used on the bottom of the shifter base doesn't do well as a noise isolator. The only real noise isolator is the thick rubber gasket on the shifter handle. It isolates some of the gear noise from the transmission, but not near enough.
There IS an inexpensive and simple solution. Buy One Of My Shifter Gasket Sets! By adding my Shifter Gasket Set you can reduce this gear noise and enjoy a quieter shifter. My shifter gaskets can be used on both stock and aftermarket shifters.
